51604340331 c10f76e476 w"Ms. Monroe" is a 54 year old woman who has lived in her 1920's-era home since 2004. Last year she was diagnosed with cancer, along with two of her older sisters. She was unable to work during her treatments but her and her sisters rallied together to stay positive and take care of one another during this difficult time.

The windows were original, single pane widows that were mostly painted shut and showed signs of significant rot and damage.  Renewal By Andersen donated materials and installation to replace all of the home's windows during the week of Oct. 11-15.  We are amazed by the generosity of our awesome partners at Renewal By Andersen!

After Renewal By Andersen was done with their work, 13 Catalyst volunteers and 87 hours of labor were put in to complete the project on the weekend of Oct. 16-17.  We painted all the new window trim provided by Renewal By Andersen, scraped and painted the fascia and prepped the basement for installing 3 new basement windows.  Following our work, a subcontractor will install new gutters.

We appreciate all of the work each volunteer contributed to make Ms. Monroe's home a beautiful home which will help keep her warm this winter.  She was so very thankful for the work done.  Following the project, she emailed us with the following...

I'm completely overwhelmed by the generosity of Renewal by Andersen, and so incredibly grateful for this gift, I truly can't find the words to express how we are feeling. And Catalyst team, thank you so much for connecting us, and for all the additional work and finishing touches on the rest of our home!

As you all know, when I purchased my home the majority of the windows had been painted shut and had deteriorated with time. Over the years, I had gotten quotes for rebuilds and replacements, thinking I could budget a few at a time, but as a single parent I just could never make this a priority. And then last year with me and my two sisters dealing with cancer, well - as you can imagine, everything took a backseat.

The incredible generosity of Renewal by Andersen - replacing all of my windows at no cost - is, quite frankly, unbelievable. Along with the impact on energy savings and sound abatement, we are now finally able to simply open a window for fresh air.  We are so grateful for this incredible gift!

I just won the lottery!
