2024 Projects

Cordero House - Storage Shed / Picnic Shelter Construction
Oct.-Nov. in Tigard, OR

tnIMG2684Cordero House is a home for teenage boys who have experienced abuse, neglect or other unfortunate circumstances.  15 boys live under the custody of the Oregon Youth Authority, in a very large craftsman masterpiece that sits on acreage in uncorporated Washington County just East of Washington Square mall.  The home was recently renovated by volunteers/donations in conjunction with the Home Builder's Foundation.  Our contact at HBF hooked us up with Cordero House to help with 2 specific needs they still had: Outdoor storage & seating.  On the weekend of October 26/27, we began construction of a 8'x20' sturdy storage shed and a 195sf patio shelter.  Work was completed on Friday, November 8.

This project was a total blessing for everyone involved!  The 15 boys who live in the home all helped at various times, and working with them was a highlight for many of our volunteers.  We made new friends, and hope to continue building on those friendships in the future!

This was also our largest 2013 project, with 100 volunteers donating 530 manhours of labor over the 8 workdays.  Whew!
