Meeting a Neighbor in Need

The Yambra family, a couple living in Oregon City, found themselves in need of help. With the husband living with a disability and the wife working tirelessly for the Clackamas County School District, their yard had become overgrown and difficult to manage. They reached out to Catalyst, hoping for a helping hand.

Turning a Meeting into a Mission

In place of our usual October in-person staff meeting, Catalyst leadership saw an opportunity to make a difference. We transformed our gathering into a team-building day of service—dedicated to restoring the Yambra’s yard and showing up for our neighbors in a tangible way.

Working Together, Growing Together

In just four hours, twelve staff members came together with purpose and compassion. We cleared thick blackberry bushes, pruned fruit trees, mowed the lawn, and tidied up the backyard. It was more than just yard work—it was a day filled with laughter, teamwork, and heartfelt connection.

Rediscovering Our Why

As staff, we often work behind the scenes. But stepping into the field reminded us of the heart behind our mission: serving others. We sweated, we battled stubborn vines, and we shared stories—but most importantly, we served. Together, we contributed 55 hours of service, and left not only a transformed yard, but a renewed sense of purpose.

A Beautiful Day of Impact

What an incredible way to spend the day—side by side, making a difference. The Yambra’s yard is now a space of peace and possibility, and we are grateful to have played a part in that transformation.
