A Longtime Homeowner Facing Health and Housing Challenges

Ms. Hall has lived in her mobile home for 15 years. Over time, her health has declined due to serious breathing-related conditions, and her home—once a place of refuge—became a source of stress and danger. Critical repairs were long overdue, and the deteriorating conditions threatened both her safety and well-being.

A Roof Replaced, A Life Uplifted

In the summer of 2024, Catalyst NW stepped in to begin a transformation. The roof, which had been leaking severely and caused extensive ceiling damage, was replaced. With support from the ECP program, new insulation was installed in March, followed by a freshly painted ceiling in May. These repairs brought not just structural integrity, but also a renewed sense of peace and comfort to Ms. Hall’s daily life.

Volunteers Bring Hope and Healing

The work didn’t stop there, on September 23-27, Catalyst’s dedicated volunteers continued the restoration by replacing one-third of the exterior siding damaged by the roof leak and repairing compromised structural elements. Once construction was complete, the entire exterior was painted, giving the home a fresh, welcoming look. Two unsafe decks were also replaced, removing serious hazards and restoring safe access to the home.

A Deep Initiative with Lasting Impact

Ms. Hall’s home is Catalyst NW’s second Deep Initiative—a commitment to providing multiple critical repairs for under-resourced homeowners. The journey isn’t over yet. In 2026, Catalyst will return to repair the water-damaged flooring and address additional wall repairs caused by the original leak.

A Testament to Community and Compassion

This project stands as a powerful example of what can happen when a community comes together. Neighbors, volunteers, and organizations united to support Ms. Hall in a tangible, lasting way—restoring not just her home, but her hope.
