A Family Facing Hardship
Ms. Robinson, a devoted mother and widow, lives with her adult son and 16-year-old daughter. Her son’s ongoing mental health challenges have made it difficult for her to maintain steady work, placing a heavy burden on the family. Over time, their home began to show signs of wear—most notably, a deteriorating fence that posed serious safety and security concerns.
Catalyst Steps In
Recognizing the urgent need, Catalyst, in partnership with Community of Hope, took action. Volunteers replaced the aging fence surrounding the Robinson home. To further enhance safety and privacy, a section of 4-foot fencing was upgraded to a 6-foot barrier—offering the family a renewed sense of peace and protection. Over the course of two days, June 18 and 19 volunteers came together, to complete the project. Their dedication transformed not just a backyard, but a family’s sense of security and dignity.
The Heart of the Project: Young Volunteers
One of the most inspiring parts of this build was the presence of a large group of school-aged volunteers. Their energy, compassion, and willingness to serve were truly moving. They worked hard, laughed often, and built meaningful connections—not just with each other, but with the Robinson family. It was a beautiful reminder of the power of community and the impact of showing up for our neighbors.
