Community Repair Projects Overview
In May, the Handle-It team provided valuable support to our community through several essential repair projects across Beaverton, Portland, and Canby.
Wheelchair Ramp Restoration in Portland
The most significant project of the month took place in Portland, where we successfully repaired a wheelchair ramp for a family whose son was returning home from an extended stay in assisted living. The ramp, which had been in disrepair and posed a safety risk, was restored thanks to the efforts of our volunteers. Additionally, the yard was tidied up, ensuring a safe and welcoming homecoming. This project involved three volunteers who collectively contributed 20 hours.
Additional Volunteer Accomplishments
Other completed tasks included minor plumbing repairs, the installation of window blinds to prevent fines for a homeowner, and the enhancement of an exterior door for improved function and security.
May Volunteer Contributions
Overall, seven volunteers dedicated a total of 30 hours in May to assist our neighbors in maintaining safe, secure, and supportive living environments.
