A Longstanding Place of Comfort

For over 25 years, Ms. Agrimson has called her Northeast Portland house a home filled with memories and meaning. When she recently noticed a leak making its way into her living room, it brought understandable concern. Wanting to protect the place she has cherished for decades, she reached out to Catalyst for help.

Identifying the Source

After carefully assessing the situation, it became clear that the issue was coming from the second-story deck where it met the house. Water had been seeping through this vulnerable connection point, posing a risk for greater damage over time. Recognizing the urgency, we knew it was important to step in quickly and support Ms. Agrimson before the problem worsened.

A Team Effort to Rebuild and Restore

With care and determination, our volunteers got to work. The team began by removing the existing deck railings and worn decking materials. They then focused on properly waterproofing the connection between the deck and the home—a crucial step to ensure lasting protection. Once secured, they installed brand-new deck boards and sturdy railings, restoring both safety and beauty to the space.

Skill, Dedication, and Compassion

Knowing the complexity of the project, we brought together some of our most experienced volunteers. Their expertise, combined with genuine care for Ms. Agrimson, made all the difference. Every step was taken with precision and thoughtfulness, ensuring that the repairs would stand the test of time.

A Lasting Impact

In total, 11 volunteers generously gave 90 hours of their time to complete the project. Because of their hard work and kindness, Ms. Agrimson now has more than just a repaired deck—she has renewed peace of mind. Her home is safer, stronger, and better protected for the years ahead, allowing her to continue enjoying the place she loves with confidence and comfort.
