A Neighbor in Need
Ms. Lestat, a strong and courageous woman, has faced many hardships. Widowed for a decade and currently undergoing chemotherapy, she is immunocompromised and unable to keep up with the physical demands of maintaining her home. Her situation called for more than just repairs—it called for kindness, care, and community.
Catalyst Steps In
In May, Catalyst had the honor of stepping in to support Ms. Lestat. Our mission was simple: to bring comfort, safety, and dignity back to her living space. We began work on May 16–17, but were soon rained out. Undeterred, our team returned in July to finish what we started.
Creating a Safe and Supportive Space
Our volunteers didn’t just fix things—they transformed Ms. Lestat’s home into a place of renewed safety and dignity. With thoughtful attention to her needs, we:
Repaired a large section of her fence to restore privacy and security
Replaced two broken gates, making her property more accessible and protected
Installed a new sidewalk from the front walk to the side gate, giving her a safer path to store trash bins out of sight
Refreshed the exterior with weatherproof paint to protect her home from the elements
Cleared and revitalized her yard, creating a more welcoming and manageable outdoor space
Tackled a variety of handyman tasks to improve daily functionality and comfort content
Gratitude and Impact
We are deeply grateful to every volunteer who gave their time, energy, and heart to this project. Because of you, Ms. Lestat can now enjoy a more secure and comfortable home—one that reflects the care and compassion of her community.
