Launched on March 27, 2020, in response to the Coronavirus Crisis.

We are mobilizing volunteers from Catalyst Partnerships and Local Churches during this temporary reality when the elderly, disabled and low-income people served by Catalyst will be experiencing even more need than ever.  We are making wellness calls, running essential errands for vulnerable people, and meeting other simple needs that will help them stay healthy and safe in their homes.  During the current “Stay Home–Stay Safe” directive, tasks are limited to those that are absolutely necessary (food & medication delivery, other essential needs).

Who We Are Helping

  • Previous/current Catalyst clients and volunteers who may be at-risk of contracting COVID-19
  • Those at-risk: Family, friends, neighbors, community members who are over 60, may have weak immune systems, and/or are low-income.
  • People referred by local churches, non-profits, city/county governments, schools, etc.
  • If you know someone who may need this type of help, please help them!  If you are unable to help, please email us at volunteer@catalystnw.org

Safety Protocols
In order to keep volunteers and recipients safe, everyone involved will be required to follow the guidelines outlined on our Safety Protocols Sheet

Funding
Catalyst does not have the means to provide funding for gas/mileage or items that people may need during this time.  Volunteers can use cash provided by those they serve, or choose to purchase items themselves as a tax-deductible donation.  Donors who purchase items for those in need as part of this program can submit receipts and photo documentation to obtain a tax-deduction letter.

Service Area
Catalyst's service area is determined according to availability of volunteers.  Our current service area is limited to a large portion of the Portland Metro area, roughly described as follows:

  • Columbia Blvd. to the North
  • Canby to the South
  • Hillsboro/Newberg to the West
  • I-205 to the East
  • Note: We do occasionally make exceptions to the current service area
